Xbox Series X & PS5: Quality vs. Performance

Flagship consoles give players two main options:

Quality Mode (4K @ 30 FPS)

  • Maximizes visual fidelity
  • Higher-resolution textures and increased foliage density
  • Reduced pop-in for distant objects
  • Perfect for screenshots and enjoying the scenery

Performance Mode (4K @ 60 FPS)

  • Smooth gameplay with lower input latency
  • Dynamic resolution scaling may occur to maintain frame rate
  • Ideal for racers who prioritize responsiveness and fast handling

Xbox Series S: Scaled-Down But Still Impressive

The compact Xbox Series S uses similar modes, adjusted for its hardware:

Quality Mode (1440p @ 30 FPS)

  • Enhanced visual effects, though at lower resolution
  • Great for players who want detail without overtaxing the hardware

Performance Mode (1080p @ 60 FPS)

  • Smooth frame rate for fast-paced racing
  • Lower resolution ensures consistent gameplay

Visual & Performance Highlights

  • Ray Tracing: Advanced ray-traced reflections and global illumination shine in PC versions, while consoles mainly show RT in Quality Mode’s “ForzaVista” car viewer.
  • HDR Support: HDR10 is fully supported across all modes, making neon-lit Tokyo streets and scenic Japanese landscapes pop with vibrant colors and realistic lighting.
  • Platform Access: Forza Horizon 6 is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for both Xbox and PC from day one. The PlayStation 5 version will arrive later in 2026.
